an exceptionally nice Bamboo Rattan Backpack basket from the Philippines
Luzon area by the Ifugao tribe. It is in it's original wonderful
condition ,well aged, used with natural aged patina. Expertly tight
woven bamboo & rattan. The Ifugao tribe are known for their
exceptionally fine weaving - of which this basket is an excellent
example. These baskets were worn as backpacks and used to transport rice
and other dry goods. Provenance is from a Woman who mastered and taught
Ikebana who loved an extensive collection of baskets purchased in the
Philippines in the late 60's early 70's while living there. We have many
more fine baskets and Ikebana containers we will be listing for sale.
